Worship Through Music

Worship-through-Music Ministry

FBC is part of an energized and growing Community in the I-35 corridor, which is grounded in great hymns of the faith, traditional expressions of worship, and emerging songs of a postmodern culture. We are an established church with a newer membership and a broad mix of age-ranges, at present offering two different Service formats:  an 8:30am Classic Service, as a blend of hymns and classic expressions of worship led by our choir and instrumentalists.  And an 11:00am Contemporary Service, as a mix of choruses and modern expressions of worship led by our praise band.  In both services, our purpose is the same – to encourage the believer, exalt the Savior and evangelize the seeking.  We intend to give our Holy God the praise and worship that He alone deserves.

We are a diverse demographic church who believes that Corporate worship is one of the five important functions of a local church.  Our Sunday morning worship services offer unique and uplifting musical styles. Worship through music plays a very important role here at FBC, so we offer a variety of expressions which enhance our corporate worship experience. In addition to the music, we often intermingle drama, video, and other multimedia to our worship services.

There is a difference between a song service and a worship service.  A song service can be a loosely connected collection of favorite songs, whereas a worship service has a specific goal — to draw near and focus on the Lord. The acts of worship are merely a reflection of a life already given to God and a rehearsal of future obedience. Worship is something that you do, it involves action. It isn’t a passive experience. When we actively, consistently love and adore the Lord, our actions will follow our heart.  As we unite our hearts and minds in love for the Father each Sunday, we rediscover the strength of His grace in our lives.

Worship Choir

Our Worship Choir is open for all persons ages 16 and up.  Weekly rehearsals are from 7:00-8:00 p.m. every Wednesday evening in the Music Suite.  This non-audition choir invites both seasoned and inexperienced singers into its ranks.  If you have never participated in a choir before, or cannot read music, this is the place for you.  We’ll teach you how to sing and how to read music.

Praise Band

Our Praise Band is open to anyone ages 15+.  In addition to instrumentalists, the Band incorporates several platform vocalists. To be a part of the Band, you must have at least three years experience on your instrument or singing. The Band accompanies the choir on occasion during the Classic worship service, and assists with other Special events as scheduled. Routine rehearsals for the Band are typically on Wednesday evenings.

P150

Psalm 150:6 says “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”  Not only is that a great verse for Christians to worship, it’s also the theme verse for our children’s choir. Children in grades 1-6 learn to praise the Lord with singing, movement, instruments and more.  This group meets in the FirstKids room at 6:00pm on Sunday nights during the school year. They participate in morning worship periodically and present seasonal programs. We consider it so vital to continue our legacy of praise with the upcoming generations.

Vocal Ensembles & Soloists

We believe every Christian has a place of service.  There are several vocal ensembles which perform in our worship services along with accomplished soloists.  We value every person’s musical ability and desire to see you use your ability to serve God here at FBC. If you have a musical gift or have served in a previous ministry, please contact our Music ministry leadership.

Handbell Choir

Our Handbell Choir brings advanced sacred and secular handbell music to the widest possible audience. The choir rehearses on Sundays at 4:30pm, and plays routinely in morning worship services and other venues.
