In June, more than 50 youth and 8 adult sponsors traveled to participate in Centrifuge Camp at Panama City Beach, Florida. Loading into FBC’s new people-mover and a charter bus, they group made the 14 hour trek to the white sands of Florida.
Upon arrival, students gathered on a sand dune and all worshiped as a group on the beach that evening. Doug Uyechi and Isabelle Smith led the group in singing, while Pastor Travis then shared a special message about being focused to hear what God was speaking.
A typical ‘Fuge day consisted of breakfast, followed by small group bible study, and then some seriously crazy group-oriented recreation. Many churches from all over the nation attended and youth were split up into groups with other churches. In the evenings after dinner, there were powerful worship services led by a Camp Pastor (Eric) and the ‘Fuge Camp praise band. After worship, students gathered into their church groups for a time of devotional reflection and discussion. Adult leaders Frank Wallace, David Reaves, Doug Uyechi and Izzy Lopez led devotionals based on themes from the day. Then the youth split up into smaller groups to discuss application of these themes in a practical way.
New friendships were forged and many youth even got to relate to our staff members in new and different ways. In the end, our students arrived home weary but refreshed from their life-changing experience at camp. Many thanks to everyone who supported this endeavor financially and prayerfully!
