What a treat for us to have our British Pastor-Partner and friend, Rev. John Singleton with us this month during our Pastor’s sabbatical! John will be speaking on Sunday mornings during July, leading a couple of our Wednesday adult Bible studies, and sharing with our church in several capacities.
Many of you know him, but some of you don’t. John earned a business degree in college, then went on to spend 17 years with IBM before following God’s call into ministry. He pastored churches in the south and central part of England, then served as Regional Minister (DOM) for the Northern Baptist Association, an affiliation of some 50+ churches across northeast England (where our FBC teams have served.) Most recently, John has served as Interim Pastor for several Baptist Churches. Most notably however, John has been married for 53 years this November to his wife Enid! They have 3 grown children and several grandchildren.
When we hear and interact with people from other countries we’re often alerted to our differences. And yet as Christians our calling is to something higher – God’s ‘sameness’ perspective.
The Bible says, “How true it is, that God does not show favoritism but accepts people from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.” (Acts 10:34–35)
That means whether you live here or “across the Pond” (as the English like to say) God’s purpose is the same. Welcome our brother back this Month as you enjoy the fellowship and inspiring insight of a truly-committed (British) Christian!
