The Pastor's Perspective

Re-envision 2019.jpg

So a couple of months back I mentioned that, “a Reenvision Team was being recruited and assembled to take on the task of creating a new Vision & Campus masterplan for our church,” and that “exciting things were in the works with continued updates coming regularly.”

Well here you go with one of those ‘updates’ – this past Sunday evening at our April Church Conference the church unanimously affirmed the names of seven individuals who are to comprise that Reenvision Team!  Our Nominating Team was presented a pool of eighteen names in order to create a Team of seven to serve. Our staff and church leaders submitted name possibilities according to balanced demographic representation of our church:  male/female, old/young, longtime/newer church members, etc.  The names were thoroughly prayed over, and then contacted by the Nominating Team to see if the individuals were willing to serve.

Those who agreed have been given a job description and will be working closely with myself, our staff, & church leaders. They will have 3-4 meetings now, break for Summer, then resume meeting in September with hopes of having Presentations ready for the church in October. The purpose of this Reenvision Team will be to assist in developing a renewed vision and campus masterplan for FBC Salado with specific goals for each phase of development. The team’s task essentially will be to create a “roadmap” for the church – who we are going to be and what we are going to be about – in the next 5-7 years.

It’s a tricky task (creating something out of something you can’t see yet) so as these individuals have prayerfully agreed to serve, please begin lifting them up in prayer regularly, yourself.  And use this Word from Isaiah as the foundation of your prayer work:

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” (Isaiah 42:16)

Spring is upon us (the wildflowers along the Interstate through Salado have been amazing!) and as the Seasons are changing new growth is happening both in and out of our church.  He is making us “alive together with Christ!” (Eph 2:5)  What part of your life needs His Hand at work?  And where might His Hand lead you to do the same for someone else?

Go love, Church!

I am FBC - The Holders

Jim and Brenda Holder have been a part of the FBC Family since 2011. Having moved to Salado from Georgetown, they continued to work and attend church there but soon felt the need to be involved in their local community.

So they began visiting churches in the Salado area, and settled on FBC because, “It was the most like what we were accustomed to, and felt like home!” said the Holders.

We’re sure glad for FBC’s sake! Having started his own handyman business, Jim was asked to fill in temporarily at FBC in the vacant Facilities Supervisor position. Because of his giftedness, and God’s timing, it turned into a full-time role as Jim is now a permanent part of our FBC Salado Staff!

“The one thing we have learned is that the closer you are to the Lord the more He will put you to serve His people.” said Jim & Brenda. Jim is also a greeter on Sunday mornings and loves the interaction with people and guests. Brenda still works and ministers to her clients who are extended family in Georgetown, and has found her place of service at FBC as well.

“Eight years ago if you had told us that we would be in Salado, we would have said ‘no way’?! But the Lord always has a better plan.  Thank you, Jesus!”

Jim and Brenda have been married for 24 years, have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Kids Sunday May 5

Child of God.jpg

Join us for a service led by our kids and celebrating their uniqueness! Kids Sunday is a great day for you to learn what our Children’s Ministry does as well as ways for YOU to be involved. Please note that our 3’s and 4’s childcare classroom will be closed during our worship service so that our families can worship together.

There will be a “pray-ground” at the front of the worship center with age-appropriate quiet activities.

Senior Recognition Sunday - May 19

Congratulations to all of our graduating Seniors of the class of 2019! We will be taking time in our Connect service on Sunday, May 19th to recognize their accomplishments during the service. Well, done, Seniors!

Bible Drill Van.jpg

Thank you church for supporting our Bible Drill team! We took our church bus to Houston TX for State Drill. On the way we stopped and enjoyed a time of fun with
Go-Carts, Putt-Putt, Golf, and Laser Tag! Saturday morning our kids represented our church well, recalling verses, key passages, and books of the bible. Thomas Novotny scored perfect. Gabe Goodin and Mason Brown have been involved in Bible Drill all 3 years they have been eligible to participate at
FBC Salado.

Parent/Child Dedication - May 12

parent child dedication.jpg

At FBC Salado, we believe that dedicating a child to the Lord is a community effort. Parent/Child dedications are where we affirm and support parents as they seek to “bring up a child in the way they should go...”. We reserve a place in our worship service to recognize these families and pledge, as a church community, to come alongside them and support them. Our next Parent/Child dedication will be Sunday, May 12. If you are interested, please contact Jayelyn Boynton by calling the church office - 254-947-5465 or sending an email to firstkids@fbcsalado.org
