dr TRAVIS BURLESON
Pastor Travis or “Dr. B” was called to FBC Salado as Senior Pastor in 2008. A self-professed small town kid from central Texas, he attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, earning a degree in Speech Communications.
Following God’s call into ministry, after college he earned his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and then later earned his Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. With a strong heritage in Texas history and Baptist life, his ancestors include General Edward Burleson, the first person buried at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, and Dr. Rufus C. Burleson, whose statue appears on the campus of Baylor University.
Pastor Travis’ passions in ministry include practical exposition of the Bible, leadership development, enhancing prayer ministries, and mobilizing the local church for mission endeavors - having led FBC to send volunteer missionaries to more than 15 different Countries worldwide. He is also currently drafting a devotional book based on his father’s journal and the life-lessons therein.
Among Pastor Travis’ hobbies are outdoor activities including: fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, canoeing, and traveling. He also enjoys playing golf, watching football, and restoring antiques. Travis and wife, Terri have 3 children, 2 cats, and 1 frisky Lab.
Associate pastor of adult ministries
Frank Wallace was called back to FBC in 2017, having served the church 10 years prior. In his current role, Frank oversees Adult ministry, small group Bible studies, guest & new member assimilation, ministry teams, and facilities management.
Frank holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston, and a Masters in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He enjoys watching high school & college athletics, attending professional baseball games (having traveled to most of the major league parks around the country), and doing some traveling, reading, and playing golf. Frank and wife, Beverly have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
Associate Pastor of music
Doug was called to FBC in 2016 and provides leadership to our Contemporary worship ministry, directs the Praise Band, and oversees multi-media and technical needs. He is also a Computer Engineer & Field Technician for Hewlett Packard.
Doug earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Baylor University, and has more than two decades of experience with live sound engineering, a variety of presentation software, and digital lighting & control systems. He is also proficient with Bass & Acoustic Guitar, Piano, Electric Guitar, & Vocals.
Doug is a huge Baylor Bear football enthusiast (he & his wife were both in Baylor’s Golden Wave Marching Band), and Doug also enjoys, cycling, bowling, racquetball, volleyball, movies, and fun cool tech-toys. Doug and wife, Kimberly have 3 children.
dr robert pendergraft associate pastor of music
Dr. Pendergraft was called to FBC in 2017 and provides leadership to our Classic worship ministry, directs the Sanctuary Choir & other age-graded Choirs, works with the Handbell Choir; and oversees special occasions, & other conventional worship elements. He is also Assistant Professor of Church Music at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Robert holds Bachelor & Masters degrees in Music Education from Samford University in Birmingham, AL, and a Doctorate in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. With extensive experience in Choral, Vocal, and Worship leadership, Robert is a Contributing Writer for several worship publications, and active researcher in Intergenerational Worship, and a regular Presenter for The National Hymn Society of US & Canada.
Robert enjoys baseball, spending time with family, playing with his kids, and is a big believer in Blue Bell ice cream! He and wife, Rachel have 4 children.
Jayelyn boynton Children’s pastor
Jayelyn was called to FBC in 2018, after an extensive background in elementary education, communication, and teaching. In her current role, Jayelyn oversees all preschool & children’s ministries, coordinates an array of children’s activities & events, develops curriculum & Bible studies, and works closely with parents & adult volunteers.
Jayelyn earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, having served as a Lead Teacher & Instructional-Mentor in public schools, led professional development school seminars, and created preschool interaction programs.
Jayelyn says her hobbies include: “Shopping, Football, Baseball, Baking, Talking (I have many words.) Somebody said I have so many ideas I have to be slowed down. Whaa?” She and husband, Brett have one daughter.
david reaves student pastor
David was called to FBC in 2014, providing energetic leadership to all aspects of our Student ministry. With a background and gifts in youth ministry, preaching, school-teaching, coaching, recreation, missions, and associational work, David oversees a variety of youth activities & events.
David earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M Commerce, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity from the B.H. Carroll Theological Institute. He has served in local churches, coordinated Association-leadership teams, and been a longtime Super-Summer executive staff member.
David’s hobbies include: playing football, basketball, softball, golf, and disc golf. He loves video games, hunting, fishing, and has a huge movie collection. A former High School linebacker recruited to play College football, David also enjoys coaching his kid’s sports teams. He and wife, Jill have 2 children.

Brandon joined the staff of FBC in 2018, after graduating from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He provides leadership to our Student and Worship ministries.

Gaylia has served on FBC’s support staff since 2004. Her responsibilities include Senior Pastoral Assistant, office manager, receptionist, and "air traffic controller" for most church ministries!

Cherrie Deen has served on FBC’s support staff since 2015 and oversees financial, budget, and administrative needs.
